M-K-T 311 was built in 1890 by Baldwin and extensively rebuilt by Katy in 1923. It now has 69" drivers and 18" x 24" cylinders. It weighs 225,800 lbs. and is 59' 11.5" long. With its big piston valves, it certainly doesn't look like an 1890s vintage 4-4-0. It is the only preserved Katy steam locomotive. It is on display at the National Museum of Transportation, Kirkwood, Missouri. | |
