West Side Lumber 15 (Shay Class C)

Unfortunately, West Side Lumber 15 was in the engine shed at Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad in Fish Camp, California, when these photos were taken. Built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1913, this 3-truck Shay is now operating on track that originally belonged to Madera Sugar Pine Lumber Company. This locomotive has 32" drivers and 11" x 12" cylinders. It weighs 118,000 pounds and burns oil. Notice the placement of the air pump near the front of the engine instead of the more usual loction in front of the cab.
