Pennsylvania Railroad 1187 (2-8-0)


The 1187 was built by the Pennsylvania Railroad in their Altoona shops in 1888. This class H3 locomotive and its sisters were the first PRR production locomotives to have the famous Belpaire firebox. The 1187 has 50" drivers and 20" x 24" cylinders. It weighs 62.5 tons and it is 58' 6" long with the tender. It is on display at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, Strasburg, Pennsylvania.
